Monthly walking tours of historic Elmwood Cemetery (founded in 1872) will take place on the third Saturday of each month March through October – additional months weather dependent.
Tour participants should meet at the Armour Chapel within the cemetery grounds at 10:00 a.m. The tours will last about one hour. There will be no charge for the tours but a suggested donation of $10 per participant to go towards preservation activities of the cemetery. We will visit the gravesites of some of the most famous, infamous and forgotten souls from Kansas City history. Be prepared to hear wonderful stories of some of Kansas City’s most interesting historic people!!
Most of the walking will be along roads but we will go ‘cross country’ for short distances so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Sun protection is also recommended. If you have a group that would like to have a private tour, please contact us at info@elmwoodcemeterykc.org.
