Elmwood continues to perform burials, with beautiful interment space available on a limited basis.
While there are may famous and historic individuals memorialized at Elmwood Cemetery, our sacred grounds are for all community members to celebrate the lives of loved ones. Every family and every person is welcome at Elmwood, and this has been a guiding principle throughout our 150-year history.
At Elmwood Cemetery we understand the difficulty in making arrangements for the loss of a loved one. If you have recently experienced a loss, please contact the office directly at 816-945-4900 or email services@elmwoodcemeterykc.org to begin the process for arrangements. We can work directly with your funeral home to ease the burden and provide support to you and your family.
Elmwood Cemetery offers several ground burial interment options. Whether casket or cremation, we can present a choice that that aligns with your wishes. In addition, we can arrange an interment in accordance with Green Burial protocols if requested by you and your family.
We have also completed planting and construction on our new Scattering Garden located on the north side of Elmwood Cemetery’s office for cremated remains. In Fall 2023 we planted yew bushes, lilacs, a Serviceberry tree and many perennials along with laying a flagstone walk with two stone contemplation benches. Spring 2024, we will add a climbing rose bush, another island garden, peony bushes and more perennials.
With so many options, making choices can be confusing. This pricing overview can assist in choosing the best option for your family. Elmwood’s grounds are for all community residents to celebrate the lives of loved ones. Individuals from all ethnic backgrounds and religious traditions are welcomed.
