Dear Friends of Elmwood:
I’m pleased to share that Charley Helzberg, through the Charles M. Helzberg and Sandra Baer Philanthropic Fund, has generously pledged to match $25,000 in year-end donations through a Challenge Grant. This remarkable opportunity means every gift will be doubled, but only if we successfully raise $25,000 by December 31st.
As stewards of Elmwood Cemetery, my colleagues and I are deeply committed to preserving a serene and respectful space where families can honor their loved ones. More than a resting place, Elmwood is a lasting tribute to the lives and legacies of those who’ve shaped our community. Caring for this sacred ground requires resources that stretch our current means. It is a collective effort, made possible only through the dedication and generosity of volunteers and other community members.
Your contribution will directly support critical projects such as:
-
Preserving the cemetery’s beauty; keeping the grounds a serene and welcoming space for families and visitors.
-
Honoring our heritage; restoring and maintaining historic monuments and mausoleums that celebrate the legacy of those who built our community.
-
Making practical improvements; providing maintenance and repairs to essential facilities, roadways and signage throughout the cemetery.
The Helzberg Challenge Grant offers a rare opportunity to maximize the impact of your investment in Elmwood. Every dollar brings us closer to reaching this goal, but time is limited… donations must be received by December 31st to qualify for the match. This is an opportunity to honor the past while ensuring a peaceful and beautiful future for Elmwood Cemetery. Together, we can preserve its legacy as a sanctuary of history, memory, and peace.
Thank you for your kindness and support. If you have questions or would like more information, please email me at sabrahms@elmwoodcemeterykc.org or contact the cemetery office.
With sincere gratitude,
President, Board of Trustees
