Kansas City’s historic Elmwood Cemetery celebrates its 153rd Memorial Day weekend Saturday, May 24th – 26th, 2025. Elmwood, will open at 8:00am throughout the holiday weekend, and remain open until 6:30pm each day.

Memorial Day Monday, May 26th, 2025, Elmwood will offer several special events and services.

9:00AM – Raising of the American flag by the ROTC of East High School. Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend this ceremony.

9:30AM – Interfaith remembrance service in the Armour Memorial Chapel. The services will be led by several area clergy, including Rabbi Rachel Rothstein of B’nai Jehudah, Victor Dougherty of the Temple Buddhist Center, and the Very Reverend Dr. Andrew Keyse, Dean of Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Elmwood will offer an Open House at the Armour Memorial Chapel each day, from 9:00 to 3:00 throughout the weekend. Volunteers will be on hand 9:00 to 4:00 each day to answer questions and assist with grave location.
